Product Introduction

Silence Bay No.1 – Mobile Deep‑Sea Aquaculture Platform

Brief Introduction

Silence Bay No.1 is the world’s first self‑propelled semi‑submersible deep‑sea aquaculture platform equipped with DP dynamic positioning system. Unlike conventional fixed subsea cages that cannot relocate, this platform can sail autonomously to evacuate from typhoons, red tides or unfavourable seawater temperature zones, enabling migratory open‑sea industrial fish farming. A prominent feature of this vessel is its large-scale rooftop photovoltaic system, which supplies substantial clean power to reduce diesel consumption and operational carbon footprint.

Key Specifications

  • LOA: 154 m
  • Beam: 44 m
  • Depth: 24.25 m
  • Max operational draft: 20 m
  • Total aquaculture water volume: 80,000 m³
  • 12 independent culture compartments
  • Design service life: 20 years
  • Self-sailing range: 1,000 nautical miles
  • Propulsion: Full electric propulsion + DP dynamic positioning
  • Annual output: 1,500 ~ 2,000 tons (Golden pompano, varies by species & farming regime)
  • Hull type: Column-stabilized semi-submersible floating platform with self-navigation capability
  • Onboard Energy System: Large area solar PV array + auxiliary offshore wind power, integrated with power management system

Core Advantages

  1. Self‑propelled typhoon evacuation capability Traditional fixed deep-sea cages suffer massive damage during strong storms. This entire platform can sail away from storm areas to avoid losses. It can also relocate to optimal water zones with proper temperature, salinity and natural feed, boosting fish growth rate and survival rate for high-value species such as golden pompano, grouper and cobia.
  2. DP dynamic positioning system Anchor-free positioning for deep waters, suitable for seabed conditions where mooring piles cannot be installed. Supports dual operation modes: permanent mooring for daily farming, and DP positioning / self-navigation for relocation.
  3. Large-scale solar photovoltaic power system (highlight) Wide deck space is fitted with massive PV panels as the primary clean energy source, supplemented by offshore wind modules. The renewable power feeds the farming utilities: automatic feeding system, water quality sensors, net washing, lighting, control & monitoring equipment. It greatly cuts fuel consumption, lowers OPEX and reduces greenhouse gas emissions for long‑term offshore operation.
  4. Integrated intelligent industrial aquaculture All-in-one system including automatic feeding, dead fish collection, net cleaning, real-time water quality monitoring, live-fish harvesting, material storage and crew quarters. Shore-side remote monitoring and centralised control are supported.
  5. Separate culture compartments to mitigate risk 12 independent culture tanks. Operators can stock fish in batches or raise multiple species. Disease outbreaks in one compartment will not wipe out the whole stock.
  6. Customisable marine classification for overseas deployment Designed to CCS standards. LR or other international classification certificates can be engineered upon request for export projects.
  7. Compact construction timeline Approximately 11 months from keel laying to launching, faster construction cycle compared with similar large offshore aquaculture platforms.
