Modular Cabin-Mounted Marine Plant-Growing System

(Hydroponic / Aeroponic Dual-Option)
Brochure copy for ship-owners, shipyards, offshore operators & overseas trading partners

Product Introduction

This modular cabin-mounted marine plant-growing system is specially developed for harsh maritime operating environments, offering hydroponic and aeroponic two optional cultivation modes to match diverse vessel project requirements.
Different from all-in-one container-type plant factories, this solution adopts split modular rack-style construction. It is installed inside existing enclosed ship cabins, without needing dedicated deck space for container placement. Fitted with self-contained marine-grade constant temperature & humidity air-conditioning unit, the system can independently maintain stable crop-growing microclimate and is not fully dependent on the vessel's public cabin HVAC system.
The product has passed marine-environment verification against ship rolling, pitching, vibration and salt-fog conditions. It enables stable pesticide-free leaf-vegetable production, improves crew nutrition quality and psychological wellbeing for long-haul vessels, ocean-research ships and offshore installations.

Core Key Features

  1. Dual-selectable cultivation modes: Hydroponic / Aeroponic
    - Hydroponic version: mature nutrient-film cultivation technology, stable operation, suitable for most common leaf-green crops.
    - Aeroponic version: nutrient solution atomized into fine mist to nourish plant roots, greatly lowers risk of liquid overflow under heavy ship rolling.
End-users can select cultivation technology according to vessel navigation sea-state and project budget.
  2. Independent marine-grade constant temperature & humidity air-conditioning unit
Purpose-built marine air-conditioning module delivers precise temperature (18-28 °C) and humidity (60-70 %RH) regulation. Low-noise air supply & return, salt-fog resistant hardware. It can run standalone, without relying on the ship's general air-conditioning resources.
  3. Modular cabin-installation design, well-suited for retrofit projects
Multi-layer assembled growing racks. Requires approximately 10-15 m² enclosed vacant cabin area. No large-scale hull reconstruction or container deck footprint. Only vessel power supply, freshwater inlet and basic drainage outlet are needed. Commissioning can be completed during port call or anchorage; dry-dock is not mandatory.
  4. Integrated intelligent control system
Local touch-screen HMI operation. Real-time monitoring for nutrient-solution EC / PH value, temperature, humidity, CO₂ concentration and lighting parameters. Manual / automatic dual-mode available. Pre-configured growth parameters for multiple vegetable varieties. Timely reminders for sowing, transplanting and harvesting procedures.

Suitable Crop Varieties

Adapted for multiple leafy vegetables: bok-choy, various lettuces, pakchoi, celery, water spinach, amaranth and more than ten other marine-proven vegetable species.

Typical Application Scenarios

  1. Retrofit for existing merchant vessels: bulk carriers, tankers, container ships. Utilize spare interior cabins to build on-board vegetable growing capacity, without occupying deck container positions.
  2. New-build special-purpose vessels: ocean-research vessels, survey ships, auxiliary vessels. Reserve cabin space for modular growing racks at ship-construction phase.
  3. Off-shore platforms: fixed and floating offshore platforms for long-term offshore missions with limited fresh-food resupply.
  4. Remote island facilities: also applicable for off-grid land-based island sites.
