Product Introduction
Full-Physical Ballast Water Management System
1. Product Overview
This full-physical ballast water treatment system is independently developed to fully satisfy IMO D-2 Standard and USCG 46CFR regulatory requirements. It adopts a three-stage core process: 50μm self-cleaning filtration + microfiltration membrane separation + PSA nitrogen inertization. No chemical agents are added in the whole processing cycle, completely avoiding secondary pollution to the marine environment.
The equipment features an integrated skid-mounted modular structure, applicable to new shipbuilding and retrofitting of old vessels. A complete flow range of 100 ~ 4000 m³/h is available, covering ocean cargo ships, offshore engineering vessels, polar research crafts, naval vessels, passenger ferries, yachts and offshore drilling platforms.
The manufacturer is equipped with an independent full-size ballast water simulation test laboratory, and has obtained full type approvals from mainstream global classification societies. It has rich mass delivery experience for domestic shipyards and shipowners across Europe, Southeast Asia and North America.
2. Core Treatment Flow
Ballasting Process
Seawater is pumped into the unit and first intercepted by a 50μm self-cleaning filter to trap suspended solids, plankton and aquatic organisms. Concentrated pollutants are instantly backwashed and discharged back to the originating port water body, so few sediments remain in ballast tanks. The pre-filtered seawater enters the microfiltration membrane unit to intercept tiny organisms, then mixes with high-purity nitrogen produced by the PSA generator before entering ballast tanks. Nitrogen-rich water inhibits biological reproduction and slows internal tank corrosion.
De-ballasting Process
Raw ballast water can be directly discharged overboard without secondary treatment, fully complying with global international discharge standards.
3. Core Competitive Advantages
-
Pure Physical Treatment, Zero Chemical Additives No chlorine, hypochlorite or toxic chemicals are used. Only inert nitrogen is applied, eliminating risks of chemical storage and neutralization treatment. Discharged seawater retains natural water quality without hazardous residues, fully meeting strict EU and worldwide marine environmental regulations.
-
Dual Functions: Disinfection & Ballast Tank Anti-Corrosion Nitrogen deoxygenation removes dissolved oxygen inside tanks, restricts marine organism adhesion and significantly slows corrosion of steel tank walls, reducing long-term dry-dock anti-rust maintenance costs for ship operators.
-
Low Sediment Accumulation Onboard Concentrated wastewater from filter and membrane backwashing is discharged immediately during ballasting, minimizing residues left inside tanks, extending tank cleaning cycles and cutting labor & docking expenses.
-
Low Power Consumption & Low Whole-Life Cost Lower overall power consumption compared with electrolytic and UV ballast water systems. The microfiltration membrane core component achieves over 4 years of service life, with simple replacement and low consumable cost.
-
Fully Automatic PLC Intelligent Control System Equipped with touch-screen HMI, supporting real-time full-process data recording, automatic backwashing cycles, fault self-diagnosis and audio-visual alarms. 24-hour unattended continuous operation is supported.
-
Compact Modular Skid Layout Modular split design occupies small cabin space, highly adaptable to narrow engine rooms of old refit vessels. Independent unit structure facilitates transportation, hoisting and on-site assembly.
-
Stable Performance In All Water Conditions Consistent treatment effect under variable salinity, temperature and turbidity; reliable operation in tropical seas, frigid polar waters and turbid estuarine brackish water where UV equipment easily fails.
